AI Wallpaper Quality Standard (AWQS)
The AI Wallpaper Quality Standard (AWQS) is our in-house framework, used consistently across every wallpaper we publish, to help visitors compare quality at a glance. on a scale from 0 to 100. Want to see how your own wallpaper scores? Get Your AWQS Score.
The 5 Core Pillars of the AWQS Score
Every wallpaper is evaluated across five equally weighted criteria (up to 20 points each), which combine to determine the final overall AWQS score:
Pillar
Weight
Evaluation Criteria
1. Composition & Framing
20%
Framing, balance, visual focal points, effective use of negative space, and subject placement.
2. Detail & Upscale Precision
20%
Sharpness of fine textures, resolution clarity, noise-free rendering, and high-fidelity upscaling.
3. Color Harmony & Lighting
20%
Contrast balance, color palette cohesion, depth of shadows, dynamic range, and realistic light flow.
4. Anatomy & Structure
20%
Absence of AI generation errors (such as distorted proportions, asymmetrical features, or floating pixels).
5. Screen Optimization
20%
Aesthetic and practical performance on target screens (leaving functional room for app icons, clocks, and widgets).
Beyond the numeric score, AWQS also issues a Publication Verdict. A wallpaper can score reasonably well and still be flagged as unsuitable for publication if it contains a serious structural flaw — because some errors are disqualifying regardless of how well the rest of the image scores.
The full, detailed scoring rules — including every checklist criterion — are available on the AWQS Rules page.
Rating Tiers
- 90–100 · Masterclass — Peak quality. Flawless sharpness, strong composition, no disqualifying flaws.
- 78–89 · Excellent Quality — High-caliber work with only minor, non-distracting imperfections.
- 70–77 · Standard Grade — Solid quality, with some noticeable AI traits or minor optimization gaps.
- Below 70 · Below Standard — Does not meet the AWQS threshold; not recommended for publication.
A quality label alone doesn't tell the whole story — a high score can still be overridden by a single disqualifying flaw. See the rules for details.
