AI WALLPAPER QUALITY STANDARD - EVALUATION CRITERIA (v2.9)

1. Objective & Framework Overview

The AI Wallpaper Quality Standard (AWQS Verdict Evaluation Consumer Edition v2.9) is a checklist-based 100-point evaluation system designed for digital wallpapers. The total score is distributed across 6 core quality categories. Unlike holistic severity judgments, AWQS uses fixed, itemized checklists: each category starts at its maximum point value, and a fixed number of points is subtracted for every applicable flaw. Nothing is estimated by feel—only checked against visible evidence.

2. Pre-Checks (Mandatory, Before Any Scoring)

  • Resolution Requirement: If no resolution is provided by the user, the evaluator stops and explicitly asks for it before producing any score.

  • Resolution Sanity Check (with 5% Consumer Tolerance): Calculate the aspect ratio implied by the resolution and compare it to the visually apparent aspect ratio. A 5% tolerance margin is applied to accommodate minor cropping, scaling, or consumer export variations without disrupting usability. If the discrepancy exceeds 5% or critically distorts the framing, the evaluation is flagged and stopped.

  • Watermark / Overlay Check: Inspect the image for visible watermarks, logos, or overlay text. Note this explicitly and state whether it affects underlying detail.

  • Clear "AI-plastic" smoothing on skin/material texture: -4

  • Floating or illogically placed details that don't attach to any surface: -3

  • Obvious upscaler artifacts (grid lines, repeating patterns) anywhere: -5

  • Rendered text, lettering, or writing is garbled where legible text was intended: -4

3. Color & Lighting (Max 17 pts)

Starts at 17 points. Subtract for each criterion that applies:

  • Two or more light sources cast shadows in conflicting directions: -4

  • One element has a clearly different color temperature without reason: -3

  • Visible color banding in large flat areas: -3

  • Overexposed or underexposed zones fully flatten detail (>10% of image): -4

  • Color palette feels incoherent (4+ unrelated dominant colors): -3

  • An object casts no shadow where expected, or incorrect shadow shape: -4

4. Structure & Design (Max 17 pts) — with viewing-scale rule

Viewing-Scale Gate: Flaw only visible at >150% zoom → Max -3 deduction. If visible at normal viewing distance:

  • Limb, hand, or facial feature is structurally incorrect / wrong count: -5

  • Architectural elements physically overlap in an impossible way: -4

  • Perspective lines fail to converge to a consistent vanishing point: -4

  • An object visibly "melts" into another without clear boundary: -4

  • [DISQUALIFYING] Main figure/structure is missing an essential part: -10

  • [DISQUALIFYING] Creature/figure has unexplainable duplicate/extra structural element: -8

  • [DISQUALIFYING] Reflections do not logically correspond in shape, color, or position: -6

  • Pair of objects that should logically match are inconsistent: -3

5. Realism & Depth (Max 17 pts)

Starts at 17 points. Subtract for each criterion that applies:

  • The overall scene lacks internal coherence or realistic physical grounding: -5

  • Lighting and atmospheric perspective do not match environmental cues: -4

  • Unnatural focal distribution (clashing sharp and blurred zones without depth logic): -4

  • Persistent uncanny valley effects in key focal subjects: -4

6. Screen Optimization (Max 15 pts) — Device & Format Optimization

Determine aspect ratio from resolution and evaluate only the matching subcategory:

  • Ultrawide (21:9, 32:9) [Max 15 pts]: Seamless transitions (5 pts), Compositional balance (5 pts), Lighting consistency (5 pts).

  • 4K (16:9) [Max 15 pts]: High-resolution sharpness (5 pts), Color depth (5 pts), Compression artifact control (5 pts).

  • Square (1:1) [Max 15 pts]: Symmetry correctness (5 pts), Central focal point placement (5 pts), Multi-directional balance (5 pts).

  • Portrait (9:16, 4:5) [Max 15 pts]: Vertical balance (5 pts), UI/overlay clearance space (5 pts), Vertical sharpness consistency (5 pts).

  • Standard (16:9, 16:10) [Max 15 pts]: Rule of thirds compliance (5 pts), Depth and layering (5 pts), Color consistency (5 pts).

4. AWQS Quality Labels & Score Brackets

  • 90–100 Points: Masterclass

  • 78–89 Points: Excellent Quality

  • Below 78 Points: Below Standard (= automatically triggers "Bad Standard - Not Recommended for Publication", regardless of numeric score if a hard disqualification applies).

5. Publication Verdict System

AWQS evaluates via two distinct paths:

  1. Cumulative Threshold: Final score must reach at least 78 points.

  2. Hard Disqualifying Flaws: Any [DISQUALIFYING] item marked as "Applied" results in an immediate failure ("Below Standard"), overriding the point score.
